Yes, across the Street on the corner was Cab Company, Skickings (sp), Lincoln tavern, Monarch Rest., Eagle tavern, Hogin tavern. Interesting area.

This picture looks to be 1961 or later as that Ford van is at least a 1961-1966

I think there was a Barber College on the east side close to the Coney Island. Went there once in the mid 60s when I was 16 and working at Myers Brothers. They asked me if I minded if a “colored ” guy cut my hair. Said no. Got a got a good cut from a good guy. What were they thinking?

Looks like this pic is in front of the old Coney Island and Lincoln Square tavern. Both very earthy places. My father was a Spfld Police Officer covering the downtown night beat. He used to take me to the Coney Island for lunch. I’ve spent about 20 minutes in the last 2 years in Spfld. Looking forward to seeing how things have changed.

Typical Springfield, big chunks of buildings wiped out for parking. At least Union Station was restored. And yes, the building in the foreground at the left does look nice.

It’s good to see that the structural integrity of the closest building is still intact.
