Does the Gekas Family still own the Coney Island? Out here in Rhode Island they are called “New York System” but they are still the same great wieners with meat sauce topping.
Coney Island was originally on 6th north of the square…I was in this current location few years ago and could not resist a pony-shoe sandwich – hey, I was in Springfield Had to have THE sandwich – and it was a pony, not a horse-shoe. And it was GOOD!
Why did they remove the second story?

The sign on the building to the right indicates “Thompsons Resturant.” I believe that 1957 is when Thompsons burnt down.
