  1. The Tivoli closed about 1949. The final showing was a double feature: The silent version of Uncle Tom’s Cabin and (I think) The Quiet Gun with John Payne. Attending that is one of my earliest memories.

  2. We had a lot of Theatres in downtown Springfield…6 in a 6or 7 block area. That is a lot for a small town. All of them good and memorable.

  3. ANybody remember the adult theater on Washington street I believe it was between 6th and 7th. I really am glad its not there now.

  4. The theaters in that area were called the Strand and the State. They both showed adult films in the later years.
