Nick I remember your Uncle well. My dad always had our cars serviced there. I recall the Christmas promotions that Texaco ran when I was a kid – there was always a toy tanker truck available. One year Texaco offered a fire truck – my dad bought the last one available that year from Clete.
Nick, your uncle was great! He and one of his mechanics (Bill) always took great care of my grandparent’s and parent’s cars, during the mid 1950′s through the 60′s. Cletus would often give me change for the candy or peanut machine. Great FULL SERVICE, we’d drive all the way across town, just to get gas.
The Texaco station at 8th & Cook was my uncle’s.
Cletus Diss owned Diss Texaco. One of the nicest men I ever knew. “Coldest Water in Town”.

I lived in the house on the south side of Cook across from the one pictured. I would love to see more photos from this area
