My memories are similar to Lynn Hatcher's. I remember they had a "spooky" elevator. Didn't they also have the tube system for sending cash and receipts?

My older sisters worked for John Herndon at his store downtown in the 70's. He'd let them wear the clothes while they worked. I worked for him when he moved to the mall in the 80's.

I so remember christmas shopping with my mom downtown. It was so cold and our arms were full of packages, going to Herndon's, Rolands, Barkers, Myers bros. Bressmers. My mom wearing her little ankle boots and me always afraid a truck making deliveries would come out the alley between the bldgs and hit us. hahhahaha!
My Freshman year of high school, we all lined up in front of the lincoln theater for the front picture of our yearbook, right before they tore the theater down. 1973 or 1974
