  • Built by Charles Fisher (who also built the 1st Pres. Church) for his brother, Samuel.
  • The North side of the public square became known as “Commercial
    Row” shortly after the building was finished. It had previously been
    called “Chicken Row”.
  • Fisher operated a store here until 1872.
  • Sold in 1993 to Fred D. Buck, who operated a hat store here until May of 1938.
  • Leased to Yaffe and Wright as men’s clothing store (closed in 1969).
  • Abraham Lincoln’s good friend James Matheny had a law offce in this building in 1857-58.
  • Remodeled between 1900-1903 by William Howard.
