What’s most amazing is that 40 years later, it’s still the same business. Other than the post-2007 facelift, not much has changed. Still a good place to hang out!
BACK IN THE 60′S WHEN I WAS AT SJC- BEFORE I WAS ACTUALLY 21 – WE ALL CAME TO TO TWO BRS FOR A COLD BUD. I REMEMBER AT THAT TIME A MAN NAMED “WALLY” WAS EITHER THE MANAGER OR THE OWNER – GREAT GUY.
THIS ENTIRE SITE HAS BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES I CAN’T EXPLAIN HOW I FELT. IT’S BEEN SINCE THE 70′S SINCE I BEEN THERE AND I THINK OF THE TOWN AND FRIENDS OFTEN.
RUSS-PLEASE KEEP THIS SITE UP FOR ALL OF US THAT ARE A LONG WAY AWAY FROM SPRINGFIELD.
ONE COMMENT ON THE PHOTO OF 11TH AND SOUTH GRAND – YOU DID NOT SHOW THE MAIN ATTRACTION – BOOKER’S TAVERN ON TH OTHER CORNER.
I worked on the yard crew at the Capital complex several summers during my college years (1979, 1980). Any time we needed to find our supervisor we would walk down to 2 brothers and there he would be found.
You used to get a large fishbowl drink for free on your birthday. Do they still do that?
I too had many, many great times at 2B’s!! Friday night wasn’t Friday night if I wasn’t there!! Actually, Wally just passed away in the last year or two. He was the greatest!!
A fun place, My Daughter Marjie, was the greatest little bartender there ever was, she was there 12 years and her boss Gary was the greatest. I had never met Wally, but Marjie said he was a wonderful guy.
Friday night always started here at the 2 Brothers and ended up at White City for dancing and then the Georgian for a very early breakfast! Ah, youth! Those were fun times.
Budweiser is the new Blatz! Interesting.

They always gave you back your change in $2 bills , everyone always knew where you had been the night before. This was in the 60s.
